The movie "Fresh" is about our industrialized food production in its current state, and how it has become all about profit and shortcuts instead of healthy and naturally grown animals and food. It also introduces new thinking, by people who trying to make changes to how we grow, buy and consume our food. This film is a must see for anyone who is interested in gaining knowledge about the production of our main meat, poultry and dairy suppliers. It shows the true side of how animals are grown and what conditions they are forced to live in until their short lives are ended, and they are sent off to become boxed, fast food meals, or grocery store items and animal foods. Yes meat and animal by-product is remade into food for animals that are not intended to eat other animals. Now I believe you will want to see this film for yourself, and make your own conclusion.
After watching the movie "Fresh" you will think twice about what your are eating and where it comes from. I personally cannot get the vision of raw chicken being torn into pieces, and the massive amounts of animals compacted like sardines into tiny little cages and milking stalls. I did not come away feeling so good about my own food habits. Now, every time I eat, I look at my food and wonder what's really in it. What else is in there, that little speck or odd taste and that scares me, I haven't finished a complete meal since watching "Fresh". This movie touched on the many negative aspects of food production but also the positive results of organic farming and fresh food education.
The intended purpose of the film was to bring to light aspects of our seemingly out of control meat, poultry and dairy consumption and the corporate industries greedy efforts to sustain us. The bright side was deffenatly learning how the organic farmers were growing food and sustaining production, growing their farms naturally and with little to no chemicals. Allowing the land and animals do what they do naturally, seems counterproductive compared to the large corporate production companies, who's main goal is to grow the animals as fast as possible, sell to market, and get that profit faster.
This film should be part of the education system, the youth need to understand what is happening in our food culture. There is definitely a lack of awareness and it should be brought into the current social scene for more exposure to what is really going on in food production. There are people in the film working hard to do this and it should be noted that we, the American consumer should be more concerned about what we put into our daily meals and pets food intake. We can make a difference, and getting educated on this very important topic is priority for our health. Ask yourself, "how did we allow food production companies to produce mass amounts of unhealthy and chemical injected animals that make us sick?".
So next time you go out on the weekend, head out to your local farmers market and start with a change to just one small item in your shopping list. Talk to them about the food they grow, and how it's different from the retail grocery stores. Why is it better? Fresh food is good food, and our lives and children's lives depend on it. It's time to make a change for the better. Farmers markets are fun to attend, go as a family. You can help to support your community, economically and environmentally. You have the power to control what you eat, and how you buy your food. So why shouldn't it be the one thing you do for your family, that can improve your health and sustain a good source of natural foods. Happy shopping!
It’s so true how after watching these documentaries it can really make you question what’s actually in your food. This was very well written!
